Made in Iowa Co-Founders Present $2,000 Donation to Marion American Legion
Marion, Iowa – April 15, 2025 – Made in Iowa, the Iowa producer of popular large-scale vendor and farmers markets, presented the Marion American Legion, Post 298, with a $2,000 donation during the Legion’s monthly members meeting on Monday, April 14, 2025.
The check was presented by Made in Iowa co-founders Cynthia Freese and Christopher V. Sherman. Freese, a U.S. Army Desert Storm veteran and dedicated advocate for local makers, artists, and veterans, expressed her commitment to supporting those who have served.
“Post 298 in Marion has a history of supporting area veterans, children, youth and the community since 1919,” said Pat Reinert, Marion American Legion Post Commander. “This generous donation is much appreciated and will help further our work supporting others.”
“This donation was a small way to thank the men and women who have given so much,” Freese said. “Supporting veterans and fostering community connections are at the heart of Made in Iowa’s mission.”
Made in Iowa, co-founded by Cynthia Freese and Christopher V. Sherman in 2023, is known for hosting seasonal markets that showcase Iowa artisans, bakers, crafters, and small businesses.
The organization’s next event, the Made in Iowa Mother’s Day Market, takes place May 3, 2025 from 9am to 3pm at Hawkeye Downs Expo Center in Cedar Rapids. 150 vendors from 70 Iowa towns will be participating. Attendees will be treated to performances from classical guitarist Tom Nothnagle.
The May 3rd Market wraps up Made in Iowa’s 2024-2025 season which witnessed huge growth. More than 330 unique vendors have connected with more than 10,000 shoppers across four major markets. Made in Iowa’s 2025-2026 season kicks off this fall and includes markets on Oct 18, 2025, Nov 29-30, 2025, Dec 20-21, 2025, Jan 31, 2026, March 14, 2026 and May 2, 2026.
Made in Iowa events emphasize community engagement, highlighting local talent while contributing to meaningful causes like veterans’ support.
