Twixt Town Road Reconstruction Project Completed
The reconstruction of the intersection of Marion Boulevard and Twixt Town Road has been substantially completed and is now open to traffic. Thank you for your patience during these improvements.
3rd Avenue Reconstruction Continues
Third Avenue from 22nd Street to just east of the FMI School driveway is open to local and school traffic only. Contractors will continue working on driveway and sidewalk replacements, as well as backfilling and seeding operations in this area over the next few weeks. Side street tie-ins, sidewalk ramps, backfilling and seeding remain.
2023 Sidewalk Ramp Project Continues
The Sidewalk Ramp Project is progressing with new ramps being installed at Daleview Drive/S 12th Street and Bullis Drive/S 31st Street. This work is expected to continue into next week.
Oktoberfest to Close Two Blocks on 7th Avenue Today
Oktoberfest returns for another year of fun! Enjoy an afternoon sampling a wide variety of beer brands and styles from the best breweries in Iowa and surrounding areas. Oktoberfest is presented by Sheets Forrest Draper Insurance. Please be aware, that on Saturday, Sept. 16, 7th Avenue will be closed between 10th and 12th Streets from 7 a.m.-5 p.m. for this event.
Tower Terrace Road: Phase A (C Ave to Alburnett Rd) Grading and Utility Project – Boomerang Corp. – $2,918,024.20
Project Overview: This is a joint project between the City of Marion and City of Cedar Rapids. Boomerang is working on Phase A (easterly portion). Rathje Construction is responsible for Phase B (westerly portion). Phase A includes grading and underground utility work for the portion of Tower Terrace Rd from C Ave, east to Alburnett Rd. The project uses Corridor Metropolitan Planning Organization Regional Surface Transportation Program funding. Paving and other surface improvements will follow in future years under a separate contract.
The Tower Terrace Road project will connect to elements that stretch from Interstate 380 at Hiawatha and Cedar Rapids to Highway 13 on the east side of Marion.
